Blue Guardian Park is located in a Camden neighborhood presently undergoing a renaissance.
Projects have involved both children and seniors in the community through Rutgers/Camden association with
Respond, Inc. 2006, saw the first placement of permanent structures with the mosaic Elder Thrones.
The Blue Guardians were created by children just prior to Halloween of 2005 and managed to survive the elements through
two winters, even though they were temporary creations. Because they made such a big impact with the community,
they were translated into permanent painted steel entryways and gateways in 2007.

In 2011 Rutgers Camden Center for the Arts invited Marilyn Keating to create artwork for their offices
that would reflect the art making they advance in the community.
Marilyn translated the Blue Guardians into kites for this project.
